Hi laser gurus! I need help with an issue I’m having:
I haven’t engraved in a while (only cutting, no problems there) and I noticed that I get artifacts when I enable overscanning while engraving on wood.
The laser seems to fire at the point where the overscanning ends, when I set different overscanning margins, the artifacts follow.
This picture shows engraving (along X axis) on paper with 60mm/s, 1% power, Z 5mm, overscan of 1,8mm. The artifacts are on the left and right, i.e. the vector file only has 6 vertical stripes, the two additional stripes are artifacts.
Bottom is Lightburn, top is Laserweb - same settings. (Bonus question: why does Lightburn discolor the areas between the stripes, does not look like a bit of soot as in the Laserweb result, but like regular burning).
I ran the same thing on Laserweb again with 50% power override and the artifacts are even more pronounced than the actual engraving now:
Is it possible that this is related to the newly installed beam combiner?
Thanks for your help!
